I’ve been making homemade nut butters for about a year now, and we use them every day. Today I made simply peanuts, sea salt & raw honey. Three Ingredients. That’s about as wholesome as you get!
Making Nut Butters is easy, but you must have a small food processor. Put unsalted peanuts and sea salt in processor. (Omit salt if using salted peanuts) You can make as much as your processor can hold. Fill about 3/4 of the way to the rim. Grind for a minute or so. Add 2 tsp of honey. Taste & adjust salt or honey to taste. If it’s too salty. Add more peanuts. Grind more until desired consistency, one to two more minutes. Mixture will get warm! Fold into container, let cool, cover, and enjoy!
Also try with cashews, almonds or pecans. If you want a more power-packed version, grind in coconut flakes, chia seeds or flax seeds – but they will leave small particles in the butter. I’ve noticed harder nuts, like almonds, or some higher-priced organic nuts, take longer to grind than, say, Planter’s. I like organic, but they all work just fine. I usually just “wing it” with whatever is on hand, and see what happens.
Even the “mistakes” turn out pretty tasty!
